The reality is, if you don't, someone else probably will - or already is. And you may not like what they have to say.

In This Series:

Homosexuality has become increasingly visible in our culture, moving from acceptance and normalization to celebration and promotion. This is happening in every area of life, from education to entertainment, from the media to the marketplace, and from cities and counties to courts and churches.

Rapid Changes

Think about the tremendous changes we’ve seen, just since today’s Senior High students were born:

  • 1997 was the year comedienne Ellen DeGeneres “came out” and was featured on the cover of Time magazine.
  • 2004 was the year “same-sex marriage” was ordered by the Supreme Court of Massachusetts, the first state to redefine marriage.
  • “Glee” premiered on television in 2009, with a storyline focusing on a male character identifying as gay.
  • 2012 was when President Barack Obama finally “evolved” on the issue of marriage, fully supporting its redefinition to include two men or two women.

And today?

Christians who believe God’s design for marriage and sexuality are routinely labeled and assumed to be “haters,” “homophobes” and “bigots.” Some want to keep our view out of the public square.

Christian parents face many questions, such as:

  • “How do I talk to my children about homosexuality?”
  • “How do I protect their innocence, but also prepare them for the world around them?” and
  • “How do I build into them a biblical worldview of gender and sexuality?”

We’re Here to Help

Our culture may have turned a corner on this issue, but Christian parents—and grandparents, aunts and uncles, teachers, youth workers and pastors—have an incredible opportunity. We can equip our children to know God’s design for relationships, marriage and sexuality.

If you’re concerned about your children (or grandchildren) and how homosexuality is affecting our culture, we’re here to help you.

That’s why we’ve created a new resource, How to Talk to Your Children About Homosexuality — A Guide for Parents.

This resource gives guidance for dealing with children at various “ages and stages.” Each section begins with a big picture to teach, framing the issue for your children and giving a solid foundation before the topic of homosexuality is addressed.

Each section offers a scenario with suggestions for possible responses. We offer ideas for language to use, helping you reflect God’s heart for all people.

We assist in further understanding and exploring these issues. We list Reliable Resources and provide a Question and Answer resource for discussions with older children and teens.

How to Talk to Your Children About Homosexuality—A Guide for Parents will provide you with helpful tools and ideas for communicating with your children and giving them a biblical worldview.
